Good is a credit union. Great is CME.

CME Federal Credit Union was established in 1935 by the City of Columbus Firefighters. A few years later, CME began serving employees of the City of Columbus Division of Police. CME then expanded to serve city, county and municipal employees within Franklin County.

In September 2002, CME was awarded a community charter from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). CME now serves individuals who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in Franklin County. We currently serve more than 28,000 members.

What's different about a credit union like CME?

Credit unions are formed with one mission in mind...to serve you, our owners and members. Notice we say "members," not "customers."

Member owned

That's because CME is owned by our members to serve our members. You vote on who will be on the Board of Directors that oversees the management of the credit union. Heck, you can even volunteer to be ON the Board, or one of many other committees.

Not for profit

Credit unions are not for profit. We recycle any net income we earn back into better loan and savings rates, and improved services, facilities, conveniences for our members.
