CME Federal Credit Union was established in 1935 by the City of Columbus Firefighters. A few years later, CME FCU began serving employees of the City of Columbus Division of Police. Gradually, CME FCU expanded over the years to serve city, county and municipal employees within Franklin County.

In September 2002, CME FCU was awarded a community charter from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). CME FCU now serves individuals who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in Franklin County.

Today, CME FCU serves more than 25,000 members.
